Water: Medium moisture, does not tolerate overwatering. Water attentively when plants are flowering and starting to set pods; they will drop the flowers and pods if they are not getting enough water.
Hardiness: Not frost tolerant, plant well after last chance of frost
Spacing: 4- 6" between plants, 1- 2' between rows
Days to maturity: 70- 95
Soil notes: Rich, well-draining garden soil, compost amendment beneficial
Fruit: Beautiful dark purple dry beans in purple pods
Notes: Lenape pole bean originating from Kingsessing, or "Chingsessing" meaning a place where there is a meadow. Originally, this was the name for the land between the Schuylkill River and Cobbs Creek, in what is now West and Southwest Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Requires sturdy trellising.
