Cultural notes: Annual plant best grown in cool weather. Transplant seedlings to soil in early spring, or plant directly in soil in late summer at 1/4" deep. Takes 50 days to mature. A variety of butterhead lettuce, known for softness and butter-like taste, this cultivar has small crisp heads with green, red-tinged leaves. Said to be introduced to the United States from Austria in the early 1900s.
