Culture notes: Lathyrus tingitanus commonly known as the Tangier Pea is a species of wild native to southwestern Europe and Northwest Africa. Though scentless, this climbing annual produces graceful coral pink flowers with a deep rose center in the cooler temperatures of the spring and early summer. Needs fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or light shade and prefers to climb on a fence or trellis or even just some string! Soak the seeds overnight for best germination results and either start indoors in late February or early March or sow in site in April.
