Culture notes: Cochliasanthus caracalla, or Snail Bean vine was once described as "the most beautiful bean in the world." This sun loving, vining, tender member of the Fabaceae is easy to start from seed but must have protection from our chilly winters by being cut back and brought inside or stored as one would overwinter a dahlia. Also referred to as Corkscrew Vine, the flowers are extremely fragrant, unique in their shape and will bloom from August into November. Soak seeds 24 hours in warm water for best germination results.
